Grandma Wilson’s Voicemail
A real voicemail, 0:36
Nine seconds of my grandma’s voice, saved on an old phone. I can’t call her back.
“I thought you were coming to see me. Give me a call.”
A runaway rabbit, a grandad who loved his garden, and a suspicious casserole.
Told by Jenni’s mum in her own voice. Recorded on VoiceHistory, shared with permission.
Ask your family the same question:
Did you have any pets when you were growing up?
We’ll have this question ready to send. No credit card required.
You asked if I had any pets when I was growing up. I had two. I had a rabbit.
It was black and we called it Chasey because it was always escaping from its pen and we had to chase it around the garden.
It was not very popular with my grandad because he loved his garden and a rabbit chasing around and eating things was not very popular.
And one day I came back from school to find that Chasey had disappeared and been taken to a wonderful farm somewhere I was told.
But we did have an awful lot of rabbit casserole that night, I think.

A true story, 1:35
A street party in the rain, a race, a neighbour’s dog, and the coronation mug she never got.
“I had the indignity of having a tetanus injection in my bum, and when I got back the street party was all finished and I didn’t get to receive my coronation mug.”
A short film, 1:08
Grandma gets one question on her phone and answers out loud. Years later, her family still hears her.
