We have pictures of my mom, and a few things she wrote down. But not nearly enough of her: the way she told a story, the way she laughed.
She loved talking with her children, and I really miss hearing her voice.
A while back I tried to get my dad to record his stories on one of those video apps. A whole year went by and he recorded nothing. It turns out nobody wants to get camera-ready to talk about their childhood.
So I built VoiceHistory, and made it audio only. You send a question, they tap a link and talk. No app, no camera, no typing. You keep their voice and a written transcript, saved for the family.
Since January, my dad has recorded more than 85 stories. Things I’d never heard.
If there’s someone whose voice you’d want to hear again in 20 years, send them one question.
